Presenting to the Global CEO of KFC!

By Architecture, Inaspace, VR

At the end of last year we had the incredible opportunity to present our latest KFC design to the global CEO of YUM!

We were asked by the KFC Australia team to fly to Sydney and help present the latest national design to Greg Creed – CEO of Yum! Brands which operates KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut worldwide. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Greg comes from Brisbane and was recently named Restaurant leader of the year!

There was a meet and greet followed by our presentation where we showed him through the latest brand standard store design via virtual reality. Greg had never tried VR before but was a natural at navigating through the model. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to present our design and services to the global CEO and more so that we are recognised by KFC Australia as being at the forefront of design for their brand.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new design which is due to be made public soon!

Inaspace paving the way for architecture with Virtual Reality

By Architecture, Inaspace, VR

Virtual Reality (VR) technology makes architectural plans easier to understand and saves time and money.

Virtual Reality is a visual tool that allows our clients to experience 3D computer simulated environments. With tracking sensors and a headset, users explore and interact in a space that doesn’t physically exist. If the user’s head turns, the graphics reacts accordingly – this means you can walk around, look through a window or confirm furniture heights just like you would in real life.

Clients can also experience a virtual model without wearing the headset by watching a video “flythrough” of the 3D space or via an online walkthrough.

VR is for every body and any project

You don’t need to be an IT expert to use the software. The global CEO of KFC found our equipment useful in understanding a new building design, while a 60 year old farmer was able to intuitively interact with the model of his new home despite never having used a computer or played video games before.

The 3D models we now build are helpful for everyone on the project. The models are so easy to interpret that construction errors are minimized because engineers and trades people can immediately read the design. In the past we hand sketched 2D plans and elevations with image boards and renders. Now we communicate more powerfully and effectively.

There is no project too big or to small for VR. We have modelled projects ranging from as little as 40m2 to as massive 2.7 hectares consisting of dozens of buildings.

VR advantages

  • Time and money saved
  • Design presentation is interactive
  • Viewing the proposed design at a real life scale results in better understanding
  • Make instant changes to finishes
  • Real time and location sunlight adjustments (morning, afternoon, night time etc)
  • Able to discuss details much earlier in the design process
  • Design comprehension increased
  • Misinterpretation of drawings by builders and trades people decreased
  • More efficient and effective problem solving
  • Addressing problems via the 3D model leads to less on site changes
  • More streamlined correspondence prior to construction and less on site visits
  • Greater marketing potential for clients, investors, tenants or customers

What can I expect?

We model in 3D simultaneous to hand designing and documenting. Here are some examples of how quickly we produce VR ready models whilst designing / documenting a project.

1-2 Days (no textures)

1 week (Basic materials added)

2 weeks+ (Detailed model)

Where can I view a VR model?

To get the most out of a model we recommend coming to our office for the full VR experience however we can also come to you or send a link for you to view online anywhere in the world. Check out the comparison table below to get an idea of what to expect when viewing at different locations.

VR is a great tool to compliment technical drawings and achieve a successful project. Inaspace is excited to be at the forefront of architecture with this technology. It’s impossible to describe what it’s like so we welcome the opportunity for clients to come in and try it! The only way to really see it is if you’re looking at it!

Inaspace will soon offer virtual design services

By Inaspace

Last week the Inaspace team ventured into the future and attended Autodesk’s Virtual Reality event to learn about tomorrow’s technology. “The future of making things” showed us the 50 year old history of VR and gave insight into what’s to come. The gaming industry has been the platform to push VR into the public eye of late but benefits have been widespread for many industries including media + entertainment, manufacturing and of course architecture + design.

It wasn’t long ago that we were only dreaming of augmented reality and last night’s event has shown how quickly this technology has advanced. We were thrilled to finally experience VR first hand (albeit with some graceful stumbles) and it has made us even more passionate about investing our time into learning these technologies.

With the recent purchase of our own VR equipment, it won’t be long until we can immerse ourselves in the office, walking through our own projects whilst wearing stylish hygienic masks and laughing at each other some more. We will also be offering our clients VR walk-throughs and belly laughs very soon.

An archivirtual advantage

By Architecture, Inaspace, Technology

Inaspace prepared a powerful submission titled “An ArchiVirtual Advantage” late last year to the Queensland Government. We are excited to announce that we were successful and we are the recipients of a Small Business Digital Grant to explore Virtual Reality in Architecture!

We know this is the future of architecture and we are embracing this new technology.  By simply popping on a headset our clients will be able to immerse themselves and “walk” through a virtual 3-dimensional model of their new or refurbished bar, restaurant, club or home. This revolutionary tool opens up a whole new world of design opportunities for both client and architect.

The investment will ensure that Inaspace are leaders in the field. We welcome our clients to embrace this next step for Inaspace which we will unfold over the coming months as we are trained in this new technology.
